TRIGG COUNTY REPEALS PROHIBITION

September 29th, 2009 by admin No comments »
Cadiz, KY — Trigg County experienced a historic occasion tonight as voters repealed
prohibition with a narrow victory of just 36 votes. Total voter turnout was 51.2% with
5,294 residents going to the polls to express their views on the matter of legalizing alcohol
sales in the county. In all, there were a total of 2,665 yes votes and 2,629 no votes.
When asked for his reaction to the election results, Grow Trigg Chairman Ken Culwell
simply said, “I’m happy.” He went on to say that election signs will be removed as early as
Wednesday and that he plans to contact Trigg County Judge / Executive Stanley Humphries
to offer information and offer to assist with procedures as the transition begins to take
place.
Culwell cautioned that this process will take several months and no one should expect big
changes any time soon. Anyone with questions regarding the process of going wet should
contact the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control in Frankfort.
Grow Trigg headquarters office at 52 Main Street, downtown Cadiz will remain open
through the end of October. New post-election hours will be announced soon, meanwhile
questions can be sent to growtrigg@yahoo.com or call 270-839-4242.
Grow Trigg would like to thank everyone who worked hard on this effort as well as
everyone who voted yes for economic growth in Trigg County.
